First off, let me tell you that the title of this books is way misleadng. It sounds as if it's a young-adult fantasy book (which is partially why I avoided this book for so long) when all the while its a mystery. Secondly, an alternate (and more correct, in my humble opinion) title of this book is could have been:'The guy who couldn't keep his wee-wee in the pants...oh, and also solved a mystery'. Honestly, the 'girl' with the dragon tattoo is just the side dish. Perhaps it's something do with making a series out of the book....what do I know?Anyhoo: I was already prepared for the very slow start to the story. I now know what people feel when they read foreign literature. Names, places, currency with crazy-ass alphabets which I can't even pronounce got to be too much. This was especially true in the beginning because the story was haphazard and since that's when all the boring history is being narrated, I have to admit, I skipped a couple of paras to get to the more interesting portions. The book seemed to be a 1000 years old at the start, quite possibly due to the translation in English which made it like a history book - fact-based and boring -but it also seems like the person(s) translating the book progressed to a more contemporary version of English language as the book wore on. I don't embrace profanities but at least you know you're in the present when you hear them as often as we do nowadays. Over-all an interesting book
